How to take care of your jewellery
When it comes to your wardrobe, I’m almost sure we all have a determined place for our clothes. Your jeans on the left corner, all your dresses hang up, boots even maybe in their boxes so they are safe and secure. But when it comes to jewellery, I know that some of us are a bit messy.Tangled necklaces, rings on your bedside table and earrings in the most hidden and inimaginable places of your house. I get it, I’ve been there, but we need to change that.
Storing your jewellery
First of all, always store your jewellery in a dry and clean space. If you can afford one, a jewellery box, could be a great investment. There are many kinds of them, some are a single floor of storage, others have multiple drawers. You can also choose if you want them to be fabric-covered or just brass and glass. They may come with a special place for storing earrings and rings, which would make it even more useful. It is recommended to separate the jewellery according to their material, and do not mix your most worn-out pieces with the rest. When it comes to necklaces, there are some jewellery stands with multiple bars to display them. And don’t forget, it is also possible to make a DIY-version of the jewellery box! With any box and soft tissue paper you can make a homemade organiser.
Ps: Plastic bags are a big NO! They can trap moisture which will eventually damage your pieces.
Taking care of them
While we all know that tarnish free jewellery is the best option, which is what many brands including NÖRA have to offer, some of our most loved pieces may not enter that category, so pay particularly attention to those who aren’t and try to not wear them to the gym, the ocean, the pool or even the shower, since humidity will easily tarnish them.
Abstain yourself from putting perfume on them and also don’t mix it with other jewellery because it could spread and tarnish the rest.
If your jewellery is tarnish free, you could wear it in the shower, pool, etc, but try not to do it so much. Cleaning it regularly and keeping them in the correct storage will definitely be better for them.
All the tips previously mentioned should also be applied when traveling, so having a traveler jewellery organiser could be another great investment too! Again, homemade versions are an option, such as transforming pencil cases that you don’t use anymore into a fancy and practical pouch. Being fashionable and feeling powerful in another city while taking care of your precious jewellery is possible!
